July 4, Fineko/abc.az. Meeting between the minister of labour and social protection of population Sahil Babayev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan Javad Jahangirzadeh was held.

Stressing that the policy carried out in our country is socially-oriented, S.Babayev brought to the attention the achievements of the social development course of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the progress achieved in strengthening the social protection of the population and increasing state support for socially vulnerable groups, ensuring employment.The minister informed about the work carried out in our country to create conditions for low-income families to acquire self-employment and small entrepreneurship opportunities, to develop inclusive labour market, to build and transparent labour and social protection systems on modern and efficient mechanisms. 

Noting that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are at a high level, S.Babayev stated that in 2016, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The minister noted that there are good opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of labour, employment, social protection, and it is important to conduct exchange of information and experience in the relevant fields. The Minister stressed that the Center for Labour of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which is planned to be established in Baku, will play an important role in the development of cooperation between the member states of the Organization, including Azerbaijan and Iran in the field of labor and social protection.

J.Jahangirzadeh underlined that cooperation between the two countries based on friendly relations is constantly expanding. The ambassador pointed out that they attach great importance to the expansion of these ties and exchange of experience in the field of labour and social protection. He said that purposeful work will be done in this area by the embassy.
At the meeting, issues of cooperation in the sphere of labour, employment and social protection were discussed.
