Person accused of killing a Ganja police officer liquidated

July 13, Fineko/abc.az. Today, Rashad Boyukkishiev, accused of killing a police officer in Ganja, has been liquidated in the course of operational investigative measures carried out by law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan.

The joint statement of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service says that on 10 July in Ganja a group of people of radical religious orientation, who tried to violate public order, attacked police officers who performed their duties. As a result of radicals’ attacks with blunt and stabbing objects, two police officers – Ganja Main Police Department’s deputy chief, Col. Ilgar Balakishiev and deputy head of the Police Department of Nizami district of Ganja, Col-Lieut Samed Abbasov were killed.

"In the course of operational & search activity under president’s personal control with the purpose of capture of the participants of this crime, it was established that the accused of the murder of police officers Rashad Boyukkishiev was hiding in the village of Moranli of Shamkir district. During this morning’s arrest operation Boyukkishiev carried out armed resistance, as a result of which he was destroyed on the spot," the statement says.
