Azerbaijan bans import of 50 tons of infected potatoes from Iran

September 20, Fineko/abc.az. The Food Safety Agency (AQTA) and the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan prevented import of 49.4 tons of contaminated potatoes from Iran.

The SCC reports that the potato moth was revealed in Iranian potatoes.

"Taking into account the danger of the found pest for consumers of products, the import of potatoes to Azerbaijan has been prohibited and the potato batch has been left at customs post ‘Bilasuvar’ for further inspection," the Committee informed.

The SCC statement says that import of 49.4 tons of potatoes to Azerbaijan was carried out by Gullu-80 LLC.
