12:26 - 7.12.2018

December 7, Fineko/abc.az. An informal summit of the CIS heads of state has been held in St. Petersburg.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the summit at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

After the meeting the CIS presidents had an informal lunch.

The heads of state watched the Nutcracker ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky at the St. Petersburg State Academic Mariinsky Theatre.

An informal summit is a conversation between the leaders of the CIS countries in informal atmosphere, where each member of the Commonwealth can raise any question.

CIS leaders’ informal meetings are traditional. The previous meeting was held last December at the Moscow residence of the Russian president in Novo-Ogarevo, and in its course the CIS heads of state summed up the results of the year and exchanged views on further cooperation in various fields.
