President Ilham Aliyev congratulates Orthodox Christian community of Azerbaijan with Christmas

January 4, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the Orthodox Christian community of the country on the occasion of Christmas.

In his address the head of state congratulated all the Orthodox Christians of Azerbaijan with the holy holiday of Christmas and conveyed his sincere wishes to everyone.

"The Republic of Azerbaijan, which has become one of the addresses of multiculturalism in the modern world, has an exemplary society, which is accepted as the norm of democratic coexistence, progressive social values based on the principles of high humanism and tolerance. Orthodoxy in Azerbaijan, where historically representatives of different religions and nationalities, as a single family live in peace and prosperity, is the largest Christian affiliation. The Orthodox Christian community, which has become an integral part of our society, together with reps of other religious beliefs, takes an active part in the great creative work carried out in the name of the progress of our republic, further strengthening of civil solidarity, makes worthy contribution to development of an atmosphere of interreligious cooperation and trust. I believe the Orthodox Christian community will continue making efforts to strengthen further our common home – Azerbaijan," the President’s statement says.
