January 15, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on additional measures aimed at improving management in the agricultural sector.

Under the decree, the Agency for Agrarian Services is established under the Ministry of Agriculture. The Agency will be set up on the basis of the State Phytosanitary Service, the State Veterinary Service, the State Service for Registration of Plant Varieties & Seeds and the Main State Service for Technical Supervision.

The Agency will conduct veterinary and phytosanitary services, manage them, monitor the quality, coordinate activity of the state centers of agricultural development. Also, the Agency will conduct registration and control of agricultural machinery, control over organization and provision of services in agrochemical, seed and biological laboratories, variety testing sites, seed certification centers.

The Agency’s personnel will consist of 85 people.
