February 12, Fineko/abc.az. Analytical agency Turstat conducted an Internet survey to make a rating of the most romantic cities of the CIS and near abroad for romantic trips of Russian tourists on weekends and red-letter days.

Romantic tourism includes tours and independent trips for two persons on the weekend of 14 February, Valentine's Day.

According to Turstat, romantic tourism on the CIS area exceeds more than 1 million trips a year.

Top 5 of romantic CIS cities, popular for weekend tourist trips includes Tbilisi in Georgia, Astana in Kazakhstan, Baku in Azerbaijan, Minsk in Belarus and Chisinau in Moldova.

33% of votes was given to Tbilisi as the most romantic city of the near abroad and the CIS for traveling, by 14% to Astana, Baku and Minsk, and 10% to Chisinau. Almaty in Kazakhstan, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and Yerevan in Armenia, which received by 5% of the votes, also got into the rating of the most romantic cities of the CIS.
