February 15, Fineko/abc.az. The mechanism of granting scholarships to students is to be changed in Azerbaijan.

Education Minister Ceyhun Bayramov stated that according to preliminary estimates, Sate Budget will allocate extra AZN 25 million for an increase of student scholarships.

"As a result of the increase, the scholarship of student with high academic performance is 130 manats. The scholarship will now be given in all universities. That is, students of private universities with high academic performance will also be able to receive scholarship," the minister said.

Under presidential decree from 1 March 2019, the presidential scholarship for students with high rates will be increased from 185 manats to 210 manats.

The decree also says about an increase in the percentage of students receiving scholarships from 31% to 45% in the 2019-2020 academic year and at least 50% by the 2020-2021 academic year.
