March 13, Fineko/abc.az. Flights of planes Boeing 737 MAX will be banned in Indian airspace from Wednesday, starting at 16:00 on local time (14:30).

TV channel NDTV reports that the relevant decision was taken by the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in connection with the crash of Boeing 737 MAX 8 in Ethiopia.

Yesterday, the Directorate decided to stop temporarily flights of all planes Boeing 737 MAX 8 available in the country. In India, this type of aircraft is used by two airlines: Jet Airways and SpiceJet. According to the TV channel, SpiceJet has 13 such planes and Jet Airways has five ones.

A range of countries announced the suspension of Boeing 737 MAX flights and its modifications on Tuesday and Wednesday. At the same time, the US Federal Aviation Administration reported that it is not going to ban Boeing 737 MAX flights yet. Boeing stated that it is confident in the safety of this type of aircrafts, but understands the decision of regulators to suspend flights.

The plane crash in Ethiopia claimed the lives of 157 people on 10 March. Flying from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Boeing 737 MAX 8 fell approximately 60 km southwest of the Ethiopian capital city (near the city Bishoftu). The exact causes of the crash have not yet been established, both flight recorders have been found.

On 29 October 2018, Boeing 737 MAX 8 of Indonesian low-cost airline Lion Air operated a flight from Jakarta to Pankalpinang. Approximately 13 minutes after departure from the capital airport, the plane crashed into the Java Sea. All 189 people on board were killed. According to the data obtained by the first flight recorder, at least six technical failures were detected on the plane.
