TANAP ready to carry gas to Europe from 1 July

July 1, reported Fineko/abc.az. The Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP), the main segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, has been ready to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe since 1 July 2019.

SOCAR reports that TANAP is a pipeline with length of 1,850 km has been brought in readiness for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on the Turkish-Greek border from 1 July 2019, starting from settlement Posof Ardaha and passing on the Turkish territory through 20 cities, 67 towns and 600 villages to Europe in settlement Ipsala Edirne.

After the completion of works on the TAP pipeline connecting with TANAP project on the Turkish-Greek border, within the framework of Shah Deniz 2 project, Azerbaijani gas will be transported to European markets from next year.

It should be noted that the shareholders of the TANAP pipeline are Southern Gas Corridor CJSC (51%), being a joint venture of SOCAR and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, BOTAS (30%), BP (12%), SOCAR Turkey Enerji (7%).
