Banks charge a fee of 1% when accepting 500 euro banknotes

July 10, Fineko/abc.az. The majority of banks of Azerbaijan established a commission fee of 1% when receiving banknotes of 500 euro.

Expert economist Vugar Bayramov informs that this means the following: if a citizen carries out an operation with a banknote of 500 euro, he must pay an additional 1%.

"For example, a citizen who wants to place on the account 50,000 euro, consisting of banknotes of 500 euro, he is obliged to "gift" to the bank one of those 500 euro banknotes," Bayramov emphasized.

In his opinion, the definition of additional payments for banknotes that are in circulation once again shows that most banks are simply interested in receiving income in any way.

Some time ago, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan stated that there are no problems with the use of banknotes of 500 euro in the country.
