Azerspace-2 to be launched into orbit in early 2018

December 8, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan schedules to launch its second telecommunication satellite Azerspace-2 for early 2018.

“The run-up is in the final phase,” Deputy Minister for Transport, Communications & High Technologies Elmir Velizade said at a press conference.

In accord with the relevant arrangement between Azercosmos and Intersat the Azerspace-2 should be orbited at 45 degrees eastern longitude to cover Africa, Europe, Asia and the Near East.

The $191.36 million satellite contract was concluded by Azercosmos with Space Systems/Loral (SSL).
