June 8, Fineko/abc.az. A large-scale reconstruction is being carried out by the State Motor Road Agency of Azerbaijan with the purpose to expand parts of the Sabit Orujev, Nizami, Mehdi Mehdizadeh and The 28 May streets in Baku and ensure the intersection of these streets with Yusif Safarov Street.

ABC.AZ was informed at the Agency that as part of the ongoing reconstruction work, the railway bridge located at the intersection of Mehdi Mehdizadeh Street and The 28 May street was dismantled, which is no longer used and leads to a narrowing of the road.

As a result, traffic on this part of the street was expanded from two lanes up to four lanes, and the road edges were improved.

In addition, as part of the ongoing reconstruction, existing pedestrian sidewalks have been restored, and new asphalt concrete pavement has been laid.

Work is ongoing on the reconstruction of the Sabit Orujev, Nizami, Mehdi Mehdizadeh and The 28 May streets in the part of the intersection with Yusif Safarov street in the direction of creating a new intersection that will make a significant contribution to the road infrastructure of the capital. Within this framework, work is being carried out on the reconstruction of Mehdi Mehdizadeh street between the Yusif Safarov and Izzat Orujev Streets. The length of the street in this part is 1 km, and the width is 10.5 m. At the last stage of the project a new intersection of the Sabit Orujev, Nizami, Mehdi Mehdizadeh and The 28 May streets will be created at the intersection with Yusif Safarov Street. Traffic lights will be installed at the intersection to ensure the safe movement of vehicles, road signs will be installed, and pedestrian lanes will be laid.
