October 27, Fineko/abc.az. Yesterday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to Italian TV channel Rai-1.

The country’s leader stated in the interview that Italy can play a very important role in the settlement of the conflict.

"When the Minsk Group was formed, a long time ago, almost 30 years ago, it was an Italian representative, an Italian diplomat who was the head of this Minsk Group before the institution of co-chairs was established. But after the institution of co-chairs was set up, the Minsk Group, as a group of countries, did not show any activity, because the co-chairs took this activity into their monopoly. And we can see what this has led to. For 28 years, there has been no progress, no results, only promises, only bureaucratic procedures, and in fact, it seems to us today that the activities of the co-chairs were aimed at freezing the conflict, and not at resolving it," President Aliyev said.
