All powers on motor road management in capital transferred to Baku Transport Agency

April 3, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on ensuring activity of the Baku Transport Agency (BNA).

Under the decree, BNA’s authorized fund will amount to AZN 1 million to be formed at the expense of the State Budget.

In compliance with the decree the Cabinet Ministers is tasked to ensure allotting the territory and finances for the Agency in order to create four transport hubs at the initial stage and provide transfer of state property used by the Ministry of Transport, Communications & High Technology, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Baku Executive Power under authority of BNA.

The Baku Transport Agency should take necessary measures to ensure centralized management of all traffic lights in Baku through the Intelligent Traffic Management Centre, carry out inspection of the condition of traffic lights, road signs and other road traffic technical means and provide information to the head of state.

The Agency must also approve the action plan on supply of roads with necessary means of traffic management, take necessary measures to ensure e-exchange of information with relevant governmental agencies, provide information on restrictions or prohibitions on the use of roads, as well as traffic jams and traffic intensity.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is tasked to transfer traffic lights management in Baku to the Agency within three months and inform the Agency about restriction or prohibition of traffic on roads at least for three days before.

In turn, the Baku Executive Power will transfer to the Agency the management with bus stops and car parks, taxi stops for three months and eliminate activities of its similar organizations.
