Mike Pompeo approved for post of US Secretary of State

April 27, Fineko/abc.az. Mike Pompeo, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has been appointed the position of the Secretary of State.

The US Senate endorsed the candidature of Mike Pompeo for the post of the US Secretary of State on Thursday. Pompeo will take his position instead of Rex Tillerson, dismissed previously by President Donald Trump.

Pompeo received the support of 57 senators and 42 ones voted against is candidature.

This is the smallest overbalance in the US history. Every candidate for this post since the times of Carter's administration has received 85 or more votes in theSenate, except for Trump's first Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who received 56.
