How did TV channels use money allocated by the President?

February 2, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the provision of lump-sum financial assistance to private nationwide broadcasters in the amount of AZN 4 million. The National TV & Radio Broadcasting Council said that the finances have already been transferred to the accounts of eight private broadcasters.

ABC.AZ asked some questions in which direction the TV channels spent the received financial assistance.

Space TV director Mushfig Gatamov said that the finances were credited to the TV channel’s acount: "We received these funds and paid off the debts of the Baku TV Tower and Azercosmos OJSC. The financial assistance allocated by the president is a great support for TV channels. Our debt was great, it was invaluable support. Probably, from this year there will be no such debts.”

The editor-in-chief of REAL TV, Sabina Agayeva, stressed that REAL TV received these funds: "The funds were spent on writing off the debts of the TV channel by paying to Azercosmos and Production Association “Radio & TV Broadcasting & Satellite Communications (Teleradio)".

The head of ATV's Media & Public Relations Department, Ozal Ibrahimli, noted that the funds were transferred to the TV channel's account: "The funds were used for broadcasting via the Azerspace-1 satellite and other means."

According to ARB Media Qrup spokesman Mail Askerov, the financial assistance was spent as intended: "The funds were sent to Azerspace-1 and IB Broadcasting Company to write off debts, and there are no more debts left”.
