Russian banks not to be able to issue UnionPay cards under sanctions

April 21, Fineko/abc.az. Large Russian banks that have been sanctioned by Western countries will not be able to issue UnionPay cards.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the foreign media that the Chinese payment system is afraid to cooperate with them because of the risk of secondary sanctions.

In particular, UnionPay has changed its opinion about cooperation with Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, Otkritie, VTB, Promsvyazbank.

Sovcombank also wanted to start issuing Halva cards based on UnionPay, but abandoned this idea because of the pointlessness of using cards of sub-sanctioned banks abroad.
