April 27, Fineko/abc.az. Russian banks start closing some of their office branches with the purpose to save their resources.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Russian media that the maintenance of expensive branches for them becomes too uneconomical under conditions of decrease of population’s credit activity, although reduction in their number carries the risk of cutting the availability of services.

The quantity of offices closed by credit institutions (excluding Sberbank) was 184 in March, a record result for three years. At that, the country's largest Sberbank has reduced its network by 32 branches.

By the beginning of April, Sberbank's network decreased year-on-year by 4.2% to 13,200 branches, and for the last 2 years this reduction was 4.8%.
