Central Bank unveils data on foreign currency cash exchange operations

September 30, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank has published data on foreign currency exchange operations with cash.

For the past 8 months of 2022, the banks conducted operations to buy cash in the amount of $1.329 bn and sell cash for $1.615 bn, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the CBA.

This means that the purchase of US currency by the population from banks exceeded the sale to banks by $286.36 million. In April, May, June and August 2022, banks' cash purchases in US dollars surpassed cash sales.

So, in these months, the population sold relatively more dollars to banks.

In January, February, March and July, the volume of transactions of banks for the sale of cash in US dollars exceeded the volume of transactions for the purchase of cash. That is, in these months, the population bought relatively more dollars.

In 2021, the banks bought $1.35 bn in cash and sold $2.95 bn.
