Azerbaijan becomes 2nd largest exporter of persimmons in world

October 13, Fineko/abc.az. In 2021, Azerbaijan overtook China in persimmon exports and became the second largest exporter of persimmons in the world after Spain.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the head of electronic trading portal Azexport.az Aykhan Gadashov, Azerbaijan exported persimmons for $125.9 million last year.

"Thanks to this indicator, our export share in the world market has grown from 13% in 2020 to 20% in 2021," Gadashov said.

According to State Customs Committee’s official statistics, our country exported 174,158.19 tons of persimmons in 2021 (38.5% more than a year ago).

Persimmon Producer & Exporters’ Association’s head  Gadir Yusifov emphasized that domestic products are mainly supplied to the markets of Russia and Ukraine, and increase in exports of products from these countries will depend on the stabilization of the current situation.
