October 24, Fineko/abc.az. The feijoa harvest has begun in the citrus orchards of Astara district. Feijoa harvesting is carried out mainly in private farms.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the Astara Statistical Office, fruits have been collected from 572 hectares out of 865 hectares of feijoa gardens in Astara.

Last year, about 6,979 tons were harvested from Feijoa gardens. 12 tons of feijoa were obtained from each hectare. It is expected that 8,000 tons of crops will be harvested from the gardens this year. Currently, 1,925 tons of products have been collected from the plots. Citrus farmers and producers in the area report that yields are higher this year than in 2021, even though weather conditions are not favorable for citrus cultivation in the summer months.

The price of feijoa, which is usually sold at a price of 1.50 - 2 manats per kg, has now fallen to 1 manat. The reason for this is that feijoa is not exported to Russian markets.

The harvesting will last until mid-November.
