Azerbaijan tightens requirements to meat butchering and sale points

June 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Food Safety Agency has applied with a statement to entrepreneurs.

The statement says that food products of animal origin are in a high risk group and therefore entrepreneurs involved in this area bear great responsibility.

"There is a need to organize centralized points of meat butchering to conform to sanitary and hygienic standards. We think that in order to provide the population with healthy meat and meat products, economic entities should make their contribution to this area and the Food Safety Agency will help entrepreneurs," the Agency said.

The statement says that with the purpose to create healthy environment in this sphere, meat butchering will be carried out in accord with the standards and only after passing lab tests the meat will be permitted for sale to consumers.
