Expert: Rise in food prices next year is inevitable

14:34 - 28.10.2022

October 28, Fineko/abc.az. "Starting from next year, an increase in food prices is inevitable. We also observed this when analyzing changes in the production price index."

ABC.AZ reports that expert economist Rashad Hasanov informed when talking about the expected forecasts of food prices next year.

He added that the producer price index has grown more than the consumer price index: "There is a difference of several times on some products, and this can also be considered as accumulated pressure. Gradually, this pressure will be reflected on the consumer price index, which will be transformed, that is, on market selling prices. This is the most important factor. Even if all conditions do not change and remain stable, there is a problem with the supply of food for 2023, there is an FAO warning about this. At that, expectations regarding the resolution of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict have decreased, which will also limit the opportunities for both countries to participate in the global food supply chain."
