November 15, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has held a currency auction with the participation of the State Oil Fund.

According to the CBA, $76.2 million was sold at today’s auction ($53.4 million or 3.34-fold (by 234.21%) more than at the last auction). At the auction on 10 November, the CBA sold $22.8 million worth of currency to banks.

"The demand from banks at the currency auction amounted to $76.2 million and was fully secured," the CBA said in a statement.

As a result of the auction, the weighted average exchange rate of the manat was formed at the level of 1.7000 AZN/USD.

The high demand at the auction compared to previous auctions is linked with the accumulated demand because of the holding of only one auction last week instead of two due to the holidays.
