Forecast: Average annual cost of studying abroad per student to be 51,000 manats

November 30, Fineko/abc.az. The program of training of Azerbaijani youth abroad expands and its expenditures are increasing.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant information is reflected in Accounts Chamber’s conclusion on the draft budget of the State Oil Fund for 2023.

AZN 17.9 million were directed for expenditures this year, but according to the performance indicators for Jan-Sept, the funds have not been used. Presidential Decree #3163 from 28 February 2022 approved the State Program of Youth Education in Prestigious Higher Educational Institutions of Foreign Countries for 2022-26, according to which Paragraph 7 defines the Oil Fund as the first source of funding.

The State Program has created opportunities for Azerbaijani youth to study at the bachelor's and master's level in educational institutions in 15 priority specialties (information technology, engineering, statistics and data analysis, fundamental and applied sciences, public health, education, environment, aviation and space, public administration, transport and logistics, energy, economics, finance, architecture and design, agriculture).

In the period covered by the Program, 400 places are envisaged annually, including 320 ones for master's degree and 80 ones for bachelor's degree studies.

In accord with Paragraph 2.1 of the Decree, the Ministry of Science & Education, which coordinates the program, allocated a total of $21.6 million or AZN 36.7 million to finance this program in 2023.

The average annual expenses for each student are projected at the level of AZN 51,000.
