Azerbaijan bans a service relating to cell phones 


December 9, Fineko/ The draft on the prohibition of changing and copying the IMEI numbers of phones in Azerbaijan passed in the 1st reading. 

ABC.AZ reports that the draft amendments to the Law on Telecommunications were considered and adopted in the 1st reading at today's Milli Majlis plenary session.
In accord with the changes concerning the use of cellular (mobile) services, mobile devices must be registered in accordance with the procedure established by the relevant executive authority. It is prohibited to change or copy the IMEI number (a unique number indicating international identification) of a mobile device in order to evade registration of a mobile device, as well as provision of telecommunications services to mobile devices whose IMEI numbers are indicated by the mobile operator in the blacklist of the mobile device registration system (with the exception of mobile devices whose IMEI numbers are indicated in the corresponding white list).
