It was noted that the final investment decision on the Central Eastern Azeri project is the first major investment decision by ACG partners after the extension in 2017 of the PSA on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) until 2049. The $6 bn project includes a new offshore platform and other installations with capacity of up to 100,000 b/d. It is predicted that up to 300 million barrels of oil will be produced during the entire life of the project.

As part of this project, a new mine, drilling and residential platform consisting of 48 mines will be installed on a site with water depth in the sea of about 140 m, between the platforms Central Azeri and Eastern Azeri. The project also includes new underwater pipelines inside the field. These lines will be connected to the existing underwater export lines of ACG Phase 2 for transportation of oil and gas extracted from the platform to the Sangachal terminal.
