New increases in social benefits to cover 1.9 million citizens

January 5, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on additional measures to improve the social welfare of the population.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the decree, starting from 1 January 2023 the minimum wage in Azerbaijan will increase by 15% - from 300 to 345 manats.

Also, in compliance with the decree the minimum pension will be increased to 280 manats, benefits and pensions will be increased. In this regard, the Cabinet Ministers will prepare and submit its proposals to the head of state within ten days.

The minimum monthly pension will be increased by 16.7% - from 240 to 280 manats. This increase will cover about 100,000 pensioners.

Over the past 4 years, as part of the revolutionary reforms in the social sphere, the minimum wage has been increased 2.7-fold - from 130 to 345 manats, the minimum pension has been increased 2.5-fold - from 110 to 280 manats.

In total, an additional 750 million manats will be allocated to increase social benefits this year. The increase in social benefits will cover 1.9 million citizens.
