FAO: Food prices around world have fallen much

January 6, Fineko/abc.az. The food price index in the world has fallen below the threshold of last year, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the UN Food & Agriculture Program (FAO).

According to the organization, in particular, prices for meat and grain have decreased.

In December 2022, the world food price index fell by 1.9% compared to the previous month to 132.4 points.

According to the FAO, which monitors food prices, the decline in food prices has been going on for 9 months.

As a result, the price index fell even lower than a year ago.

At the same time, in 2022 as a whole, the average index index was 143.7, which is 14% higher than the average in 2021.

Among the products that fell in price in December, grain (-1.9%) and meat (-1.2%) can be noted.
