World Economic Forum begins its work in Davos

January 16, Fineko/abc.az. From 16 to 20 January the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be held in Davos, Switzerland under motto "Cooperation in a fragmented world".

Since the 70s of the last century, Davos has been hosting world leaders, top managers of large companies, political and public figures in winter.

ABC.AZ reports that the WEF meeting in 2021 was held online because of the coronavirus pandemic. In 2022, the forum was postponed from January for May due to the coronavirus.

According to the organizers, a record number of participants will come to Davos this year - more than 2,700 people. Within the forum program, on 17 January, speeches by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of China, Liu He, are expected. On Wednesday, January 18, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will deliver speech. South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol will speak the next day.
