Number of metro stations in Baku to reach 51 by 2040

January 17, Fineko/abc.az. The metro transport system will continue to play the leading role in the public transport system of Baku and will provide the main transport link between the densely-populated areas of the agglomeration and the central districts.

ABC.AZ reports that this is reflected in the Baku City Master Plan, published by the State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture.

Thus, in the coming years, the May 28 metro station will remain an important central hub of the metro network.

By 2027, it is planned to separate the green and red lines and create new auxiliary infrastructure at the May 28 - Jafar Jabbarli interchange station.

By 2040, it is planned to increase the total length of the metro network from the current 36.7 km to 76.2 km, and the number of stations from 25 to 51.
