Customs Committee seized 4.5 tons of drugs

June 13, Fineko/abc.az. The State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan has registered 19,346 violations of customs legislation from 2016 to the present day.

Customs Tariffs Regulation Department’s head Azizaga Huseynov stated that 1,505 facts of them were of criminal nature.

"416 revealed breaches relate to drug trafficking. From 2016 to date customs officers seized 4,549 tons of drugs, including 1,877 tons of heroin," Huseynov said.

He added that illegal export of foreign currency, including $3,742 and 465,000 euro, was also prevented. Illegal export of 40 kg of gold and 50 kg of silver was also prevented.
