January 31, Fineko/abc.az. The IMF has improved its forecast on global GDP growth up to 2.9% in 2023 and worsened to 3.1% in 2024.
ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the published January update to the IMF report on the prospects for development of the world economy.
"The growth rate of the global economy will decrease from 3.4% in 2022 to 2.9% in 2023, and then increase to 3.1% in 2024. The forecast for 2023 is 0.2 p.p. higher than the forecast contained in the October report on the prospects for development of the world economy, but below the average of 3.8% over the past period (2000-2019)," the report says.
The improvement is caused by "unexpected positive changes and greater than expected stability of dynamics in many countries". At that, the Fund has worsened its forecast on the pace of development of the global economy in 2024 by 0.1 p.p.
A range of important decisions were taken in the direction of strengthening social protection of the population, related to increasing wages, labor pensions, social benefits and pensions, in particular, social benefits of the low-income class.
