G7 countries agree to strengthen sanctions against Russia

April 18, Fineko/abc.az. The G7 foreign ministers have agreed to strengthen economic sanctions to put pressure on Moscow in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the joint statement of the G7 foreign ministers adopted following their meeting in Japan.

"The G7 FMs confirmed that they remain committed to strengthening, fully coordinating and enforcing sanctions against Russia, as well as continuing strong support for Ukraine," the statement says.

In addition, they agreed to strengthen coordination to prevent evasion of sanctions and the supply of weapons to Russia by third parties.

The G7 ministers concluded a three-day meeting in Karuizawa (Nagano Prefecture) on Tuesday morning.
