Unemployment rate in UK rose to 3.8%

April 19, Fineko/abc.az. The unemployment rate in the UK in February rose to 3.8% against expected 3.7%, while the change in the number of applicants for unemployment benefits showed an unexpected increase in the reporting month.

ABC.AZ reports that according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the number of people applying for unemployment benefits jumped by 28,200 in March, compared with the forecast of -11,800 and the result of -18,800 registered a month earlier.

The average weekly earnings in the UK excluding bonuses made up 6.6% 3M/y in February against 6.6% a month earlier and expected 6.2%, while the figure including bonuses was 5.9% 3M/y in the second month of the year against 5.9% earlier and expected 5.1%.
