June 25, Fineko/abc.az. Russia and Azerbaijan are likely to return to the agreement on free road transit between their countries.

Yevgeny Moskvichev, the head of the State Duma Committee on Transport & Construction, told journalists in Baku, that during the meetings the parties agreed to return to the agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan on international road transport.

"The parties agreed to solve one main problem - transit in Russia and Azerbaijan should be free, without a permit system," he said, noting that this topic was discussed during the meeting of State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which took place on Sunday.

According to Moskvichev, this will allow "to increase few-fold the volume of cargo from Iran to Azerbaijan and Russia".
