Azerbaijan halts import of electricity from Georgia

July 9, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has suspended emergency imports of electricity from Georgia.

Electric supplier operator Azerenergy informs that consequences of the accident, which occurred at night from 2 to 3 July at Mingachevir Thermal Power Plant are liquidated.

"Stable energy supply has been provided in the country. Import of electricity from Georgia has been stopped and work on parallel supply of electricity is carried out together with the Russian system according on the agreed schedule," Azerenergy said.

During the accident at Mingachevir plant, which caused the blackout of the entire territory of the country, Russia and Georgia began to supply electricity to Azerbaijan with the purpose to provide assistance.
