July 20, Fineko/abc.az. Many factors may cause cancer: genetic predisposition, unhealthy lifestyles, environmental factors, and viruses. Over the last few years experts often voiced the idea that some types of cancer are caused by viruses.
1. Human papillomavirus (HPV)
Science knows 150 types of HPV; 70-80% of the world's population is infected with this virus. Its main types that have oncogenic effect are HPV16 and 18. The virus is usually transferred sexually or by contact. Organisms with strong immunity themselves fight against this virus and destroy it, and in persons with weak immunity these viruses, turning into a chronic form, can cause precancerous diseases.
2. Hepatitis B and C
Infection with this virus is possible both sexually and with medical interventions - dental procedures, as well as during cosmetic procedures (piercing, manicure, etc.). If hepatitis B is left untreated, it can cause cirrhosis in 10-20% of cases and cancer in 10% of cases. In most cases hepatitis C occurs in 25% of patients, i.e., it causes cancer in each of the four patients.
3. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV, AIDS)
As the immune system in these patients is quite weak, it is not able to fight against mutated cancer cells and thus a favorable environment for cancer development is created. Cervical cancer, Kaposi sarcoma, blood cancer develop most often in these patients.
4. Herpes Virus
First of all, we note that this does not include widespread Herpes I and II (when there is inflammation on the lips and genitals). Herpes-8 can lead to cancer. This virus as well as other types of herpes, is transmitted through sexual and contact, as well as through common household items.
5. Epstein-Barr Virus
It can often lead to cancer of the nasopharynx, some types of lymphomas, cancer of the stomach. The probability of cancer with this virus, compared with other viruses, is quite small.
6. Helicobacter Pylori
This bacterium, which is the main causative agent of gastritis, in the absence of treatment, can cause ulcers, and if you do not eliminate the ulcer, it, in turn, can lead (in some cases) to cancer.
7. Chronic Inflammatory Diseases
Any inflammatory disease, in the absence of long-term treatment, can cause cancer, as in case of inflammatory diseases, special substances are formed and stimulate growth of tissues that can cause growth of cancer cells.
Given the above-said, in any case, if there are complaints about the state of health, regardless of the severity of the disease, you should consult a doctor and undergo a survey, because the problem, seeming simple today, can become a messenger of a serious and intractable disease.
