A railway line can appear between Baku and Mineralnye Vody


August 24, Fineko/abc.az. Russian Railways (RZD) is ready to consider a project of launching a high-speed train Lastochka between Mineralnye Vody (a town in Stavropol Krai of Russia) and Baku in case of readiness of relevant infrastructure.

The press centre of North Caucasus Railway Company informs that authorities of Dagestan and Stavropol Krai, through the territories of which the train will run in case of launch of the project, believe that this project will increase the flow of tourists and attract additional investments to the regions.

"The main objective of the project is to reduce time and increase comfort of tourists from Baku to Mineralnye Vody, as well as to achieve growth of tourist flow in this direction. If such a railway route appears, there will be a possibility to get from Minvody to Derbent for 3.5 hours and to Baku in 4.5 hours," the press center reported.

"Russian Railways in the face of NCRC and the regional service on development of passenger transport and provision of access to infrastructure is ready to consider the project of organization of railway communication via route Mineralnye Vody - Baku by trains ‘Lastochka’ in case of readiness of the railway infrastructure and justification of the demand in such route by Russian carrier Federal Passenger Company (FPC).
