August 27, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Shemakha Safari Park on 26 August.

Tofig Hasanov, the director of Azer Ekov LLC, has stated that a 480-hectare plot was fenced in the Pirkuli mountain-forest area with the purpose of creation of an ecological reserve for wild animals in Shemakha district.

"There were 790 heads of animals when the reserve park was under creation. Among the animals are such genetically valuable animals as noble deer, fallow-deer and mouflon. As a result of taken breeding and veterinary measures, currently the number of those animals exceeded $1,000. Numerous natural shelters have been arranged for the animals," Hasanov informed.

Starting from September free tours to the Safari Park will be arranged for school students at the end of each week in compliance with the relevant agreement reached with the Ministry of Education.

"Besides, preparation for reception of tourists is also being finished. Tourist trips to the Park will be organized from October. Both schoolchildren and tourists will be able to watch wild animals in the Park, take pictures of them and get detailed information," Hasanov emphasized.
