September 5, Fineko/abc.az. Analytical agency Turstat has presented the rating of countries that were popular among Russian tourists in the 1st half of 2018.

According to Turstat, the rate of trips of Russians to Azerbaijan increased by 7% up to 349,000 trips over the first 6 months of 2018, compared to the last year’s same term.

The total number of Russian tourists’ foreign trips in the 1st half of 2018 increased up to 18.6 million that is by 9% more than last year.

Top 15 of foreign countries where Russian tourists traveled this year for the first half of the year consists of Turkey, Abkhazia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, China, Thailand, Estonia, Germany, UAE, Poland, Italy, Georgia, Spain, and Azerbaijan.

The rating is based on the analysis of statistics of outbound tourist trips from Russia in the 1st half of 2018.

Top 15 of popular countries for Russian tourists for 1st half of 2018:

1. Turkey – 2.28 million tourists (+40% versus 2017)

2. Abkhazia – 1.75 million (+5%)

3. Finland – 1.559 million (+1%)

4. Kazakhstan – 1.287 million (+1%)

5. Ukraine – 1.07 million (+8%)

6. China – 908,000 (-4%)

7. Estonia – 858,000 (+5%)

8. Thailand – 679,000 (+18%)

9. Germany – 591,000 (+4%)

10. UAE – 545,000 (+52%)

11. Poland – 532,000 (-10%)

12. Italy – 498,000 (+20%)

13. Georgia – 483,000 (+26%)

14. Spain – 406,000 (+5%)

15. Azerbaijan – 349,000 (+7%)
