September 19, Fineko/abc.az. Socar president Rovnag Abdullayev stressed that the first exploration well on structure Shafag-Asiman, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, will be drilled in the 2nd half of 2019.
"At the next stage, exploration work will be carried out on structures Zafar-Mashal and Nakhchivan," he added.
The Shafag-Asiman block is located approx. 125 km (78 miles) south-east of Baku and occupies an area equal to approx. 1,100 sq km. To date, no geological exploration has been carried out on this offshore block. The block is deepwater area of the sea at depth of about 650-800 m, and depth of the collector is about 7,000 m.
