Azerbaijan’s Pomegranate Festival leads Top of autumn’s enotourism events

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. Analytical agency Turkstat has presented rating of the best and popular enogastronomic holidays and festivals on the CIS area among Russian tourists.

The agency reports that the rating is based on the analysis of the popularity of tours and the uniqueness of events.

"Top 3 of popular tours for wine tourism in the middle of autumn of 2018 includes traveling to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Moldova. The Pomegranate Festival in Azerbaijan, the National Wine Festival in Armenia and the National Wine Day in Moldova are in Top 3 of popular CIS vinitourism events for Russian tourists this October," the Agency said in a statement.

The Pomegranate Festival will be arranged in Goychay district from 26 October to 7 November. A fair of over 60 varieties of pomegranates, also prepared as baked, boiled, and fried, will be conducted within the festival.

Tasting of Azerbaijani cuisine, performances of folklore bands, athletes, dance and song groups and contests will be organized as well. More than 30 tons of pomegranates a year are collected in Goychay, which has been holding the festival since 2006.
