October 29, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of Sheki-Kish road.

State Motor Road Agency’s chairman of board Saleh Mammadov informed the country’s leader and his wife about the technical indicators of the road.

The length of the road is 7.2 km. The Sheki-Kish road was not repaired for a long time and the roadway was out of order that created problems for movement of vehicles. Reconstruction of Sheki-Kish highway connecting two settlements with population of 17,000 residents was carried out in accord with the relevant presidential order.

As a result of conducted work, the two-lane road was reconstructed in accordance with the 4th technical category. Width of the new roadway is 12 m, including the basis of the road with width of 7 m and the curb with width of 2 m. Along the road are constructed drain pipes of different diameter, in the right places there are traffic signs, bus stops, road marking and road signs.

Also, restoration work on the bridge across the Kish river was carried out. Length of the new bridge is 88.2 m and width of the roadway is 8 m. On both sides of the bridge created a sidewalk width of 1.5 m. Height of safety single-span bridge across the river is 7 m that will allow preventing possible damage to the construction by mudflows.

Preventive measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the bridge, taking into account mudflows. In order to regulate the water flow and protect populated localities against floods height of the 32 m part of the monolithic concrete retaining wall resting on piles on the right bank was increased within the project, and a new water control plant with length of 45 m was constructed on the left bank of the river.
