October 29, Fineko/abc.az. The possibility of exploitation of Azerbaijani freight cars on the railway lines of Turkey has been tested.

Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) reports that ADY wagon service’s head Bashir Asadov and ADY Technical & Production Office’s head Alovsat Aliyev, together with engineers of Turkey’s TCDD Taşımacılık tested the possibilities of exploiting Azerbaijani freight cars on railway lines of Turkey.

"One gondola car, belonging to ADY has been connected to the local train at Kars railway station and ran through such large railway stations as Sarıkamış, Erzurum, Erzincan, Divrigi and Bostankaya to station Sivas, overcoming this distance for eight hours. The test results showed that freight cars belonging to ADY can be used for cargo transportation in Turkey and can play a significant role in mutual cargo turnover," ADY informed.

The ADY-owned freight cars will follow the tracks, whose width is equal to 1,520 mm, while in Turkey the track width is 1,435 mm. Replacement of trucks is carried out at railway station Akhalkalaki (Georgia) to continue their route on the Turkish railway lines.
