November 15, Fineko/abc.az. Cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan increased by 2.5 times over Jan-Sept 2017.

Javid Gurbanov, chairman of Azerbaijani Railways (ADY), has stated that for the first 9 months of the year, versus the 2016 same term, cargo traffic with Kazakhstan grew by 251%, or 2.5 times.

"This is an indicator of the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor. This is mainly transit cargo carried through Azerbaijan and deliveries of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, Turkey’s goods sent to the Central Asian countries, which have already come up to almost 1 million tons and to be increased in the future," Gurbanov underlined.

Kazakhstan Railways’ president Kanat Alpysbayev has stated that next year it is planned to transport about 3.5 million tons of cargo via the corridor, and bring the traffic up to 7-8 million tons by 2020.
