January 24, Fineko/abc.az. Lukoil has launched negotiations with the CIS countries about possible transition to national currencies in payments for supply of petroleum products.

The statement was made in an interview for TASS at the World Economic Forum in Davos by Lukoil’s president Vagit Alekperov.

"It is hard to say. Our product has so-called international quotation. Today, there are many paper derivatives in the oil trade, which are insured by large companies. As a rule, all this is done in dollars. This is difficult transition, but today it is possible to start the first stage with the CIS countries," Alekperov said, commenting on Lukoil’s attitude towards the idea of de-dollarization in payments for oil.

He added that the Company is already discussing this possibility with the CIS countries on oil products:"Only point [negotiations] on petroleum products".
