January 30, Fineko/abc.az. Addressing to the conference held in Baku on 29 January and dedicated to the State Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Regions 2014-18, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the country has been fulfilling quite serious work to foster the art of traditional carpet weaving. At present the Azerbaijan is numbering over 20 carpet factories. Each factory offers about 100 or 150 jobs, particularly for women. As a whole, we plan to construct 31 carpet factories to create about 5,000 jobs. Opening of a spinning & dyeing factory is expected in Sumgait. Thus, we’ll now overcome the dependence on foreign raw materials in carpet production.
