Baku Metro to replenish its rolling stock with six trains from Metrovagonmash in 2019

February 1, Fineko/abc.az. Metrovagonmash (part of Russia’s Transmashholding) and Baku Metro Company signed a contract for supply of 30 wagons of model 81-765.B/766.B.

Metrovagonmash reports that the contract was signed by Russian company’s CEO Boris Bogatyrev and BMC chair Zaur Huseynov.

"In accord with the contract six trains will be built for the Baku Metro by the end of 2019. Each train will consist of two head motor wagons with a control cabin and three intermediate motor cars. The first delivery of the new wagons is planned in Baku during Q2 of the current year," it was informed.

The Baku Metro will be replenished with new wagons to be produced by the Mytishchi Plant since 2017. Compared to the rolling stock of the previous models, new wagons will have wider doors. The entire train will have pass-through. The new system of the light notification on opening and closing of doors will be used in trains 81-765.B/766.B. The new train has good noise and heat insulation, and its cars are equipped with air conditioning and ventilation, sockets for charging electronic devices of passengers. Salons of head wagons are provided with a platform to accommodate wheelchairs and bicycles.

An original colour scheme has been developed for Baku railcars and an information system adapted to local conditions is being used.

Metrovagonmash has been supplying rolling stock to the capital of Azerbaijan since 1967. About 300 metro cars of Mytishchi plant are currently in operation in the Baku Metro. In 2015, the Company supplied to the Baku underground three 5-car trains of model 81-760.B/761.B/763.B with through passage. In 2018, the holding delivered two 5-car trains of model 81-765/766 to the Baku Metro.
